Virginia Forest in 1607
It was a long voyage from the King's land, but finally you arrive in the New World. While your crew tends to the ship, you stumble off into the forest, too excited to stay put.
As you clumsily walk off your sea legs, the unfamiliar forest encloses around you in hues of green and gold. A stream bubbles nearby and you pause to peer in, hoping to see flecks of precious metal amongst the stones at the bottom. As you move on, you begin to feel something sacred. The ancient, virgin land seems rich and lush, but there is something more to it. The forest itself seems...alive. Perhaps you had finally gone mad from the rocking of the boat, but you swear you hear whispers among the pines.
As your suspicions slowly begin to lead you into a state of disarray, a faint sound cuts rapidly through the air and freezes you in your tracks. Splinters fly as an arrow strikes a large oak, just a centimeter shy of your ear.
